But in the land of Ayurveda, medicinal herbs are under serious threat. Forty four such plants have been put on the IUCN Red List. Even as India braces itself to replenish the fountains of its ancient knowledge, climate change, habitat destruction due to urban, agricultural and industrial expansion, road construction and hydropower projects threaten to wipe out some of its most significant medicinal plants.
