surveys since year 1990 in different parts of India Pankaj Oudhia has
documented vital information about Medicinal Plants mentioned in the famous

Habitat : — Western
Himalaya from Garwhal to Ladak.
A bush, with smooth,
striate slender stem. Leaves oblong-
ovate or oblanceolate,
narrowed at the base, often crowded.
Bracts, ovate, about twice
as long as the pedicels, but short
acuminate, with narrowly
membranous margins. Flowers 3 in.,
lateral lax ; white (Brand
is.) Sepals connate below, much short-
er than petals, obtusely
triangular at apex. Stamens connate
for one- fourth of their
length, 10, alternately long and short,
monadelphous. Ovary
tapering, with 3 sessile stigmas; placentas
basal, very short, adnate
to the middle of the valves ; ovules many.
Seeds exalbuminous, with a
usually stalked plume. Embryo
ovoid.
Use : — The leaves form an
application to bruises, &c, in
Lahoul (Aitchison).

Oudhia’s Comment: As wound healing plant Myricaria holds a reputed position
among the Traditional Healers. Through Ethnobotanical surveys I have collected
information about over 21000 Herbal Formulations in which Myricaria is added as
tertiary ingredient for wound healing properties. Myricaria roots are added in
over 15000 Herbal Formulations as septenary ingredient. These Formulations are
used for Diabetes Complications. In treatment of bone diseases Myricaria is
added as nonary ingredient in over 30000 Herbal Formulations. Please see Tables
