Habitat : — On the Sea Coast of Sind ; also on the salt
plains of the Punjab, and probably also in Cutcb.

An annual herb, slender, prostrate, diffuse, exceedingly
branched. Leaves obovate, retuse or hoary beneath, i-J in. }
very shortly petioled. Branches wiry, leafy, 6-18 in. long.
Flowers pink, shorter than the leaves. Calyx cylindric, glab-
rous, strongly ribbed. Petals small.
Use : — Valued by native practitioners in the fresh state
for its mucilaginous and aromatic properties ; exhibited in
the
form of decoction in empyreuma (Murray.)

Oudhia’s Comment: Frankenia roots are
considered as valuable medicine for many diseases. Roots are added as
quaternary ingredient in over 5000 Herbal Formulations used for Filariasis.
In over 3000 Herbal Formulations for treatment of old fever roots are added as
nonary ingredient. In treatment of Kidney related troubles Frankenia plants at vegetative stage are used as secondary
